Ivan Maksimovich Sabelnikov (October 13, 1914 – March 10, 1966) – welder at the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, Honorary Metallurgist of the USSR (1960), Hero of Socialist Labor (1958).BiographyBorn on October 13, 1914 in the village of Luganskoye, Kokchetavsky district, Akmola region.Since 1932 – a carpenter at the construction of a blast furnace at the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant.After graduating from the courses of welders in 1933, he worked at the wells of a blooming mill, at the furnaces of mills „500" and „250" of the rolling shop No. 2 of the combine.In 1936-1939 he served in the Red Army.In 1942-1964 he was a welder of heating furnaces in a wire-strip shop.He actively participated in the improvement of production processes. Repeatedly became the winner of the in-plant socialist competition.Elected as a deputy of the Magnitogorsk City Council of Working People’s Deputies.He died in 1966 in Magnitogorsk. He was buried at the Pravoberezhnoye cemetery.Awards and titlesHe was awarded the Orders of Lenin (1958), the Order of the of Labor (1955), the Badge of Honor (1950), the medals For Labor Valor and For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War.In 1958, among the metallurgists, Sabelnikov was the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. Honorary Metallurgist of the USSR (1960).MemoryIn Magnitogorsk, at number 16 on Prospect Metallurgov, where I. M. Sabelnikov lived, a memorial plaque was installed.In 2017, one of the new streets in the village of Pervooktyabrsky (Ordzhonikidze district of the city of Magnitogorsk) was named after I.M.Sabelnikov.
